A future for us all

We’re passionate about saving our planet and want to ensure our building is sustainable, environmentally friendly and has a massively reduced carbon footprint. That means we have to manage energy and waste better.

A green, sustainable building helps us make carbon savings and use our resources better – to create world-class theatre and develop community learning and engagement projects – not to pay increasing energy bills.

Growing

We know that nature is good for us, so our new space will be green and beautiful

The theatre may have sensory gardens to support our work in health and well-being, children could explore in an adventure playground and our market garden would grow produce for our cafe and create learning experiences. Surrounded by trees, our hilltop will be an oasis of calm.

This building will inspire innovation and give a vision of the technologies that we’ll all have to embrace.

We will

What we spend on gas, electricity and water. A well-designed, insulated building will ensure big savings!

We will

Our toilets may be flushed by rainwater while sunlight hitting our roofs could be converted to heat and electricity with photovoltaic panels.

We will

Cold and hot air will be recycled around the building providing efficient, low-cost heating and cooling – with plants growing up our walls and on our rooftops providing natural insulation.

We will

The energy of nature to help power our building and, when possible, give back to the national grid.
