Frequently Asked Questions

We’ll add more questions & answers as you ask them…

Will the building close while this all happens?
No! The project will be phased meaning that one of our theatres will always be open. We'll also have an amazing temporary pop-up 300 seat theatre next to the building!
Tamara
Artistic Director
Does this mean fewer shows than usual?
At times we’ll have fewer shows than usual, however there’ll always be something going on and we will absolutely maintain the high standards you expect of us. We're already planning our future seasons and they’ll be spectacular!
Tamara
Artistic Director
I've already got tickets! What happens?
No tickets are on sale for the rebuilding period yet so there’s nothing to worry about. When the project starts we'll keep you up-to-date with all the latest developments.
Sam
Communications Team
What about disabled access?
We will make sure that all our temporary spaces have good disabled access while the project is happening.
Andrew
Operations Team
Can I still see art in the gallery?
When the front of the building is refurbished our art will move into our temporary foyer space. We hope it'll be just as artistically exciting, as well as cosy and comfortable.
Tamara
Artistic Director
How long will it take?
Just over two years from start to finish. It won't affect panto though as we're planning our work very carefully.
Pat
Capital Associate
Can I give you money to help you build it?
Yes but not quite yet! As with all major capital projects we'll have to raise some of the money ourselves - we'll keep everyone in the loop as the project progresses. If you want to make a major donation then we'd love to hear from you!
Liam
Executive Director
Who's paying for it all?
The project will be funded, for the most part, we hope, by Welsh Government and the Arts Council of Wales. We will also be looking to private donations, trusts & foundations and lower match-funding from Flintshire County Council.
Liam
Executive Director
Where will we park?
We'll make sure there is lots of parking throughout the project and that it's clearly signposted!
Andrew
Operations Team
What will happen with the cafe?
We’ll always have drinks and bar snacks available. During some of the redevelopment there will be fewer catering facilities but we’ll always make sure you know what these are when you’re booking tickets.
Andrew
Operations Team
Where will the "temporary theatre" be?
It'll be on the field next to the theatre - for those who remember where we had our ice rink in 2016 - just there!
Andrew
Operations Team
Will there still be a box office?
We'll have a box office desk as well as phone and website booking as usual - we'll try to minimise disruption during the process by making it easy to collect your tickets.
Sam
Communications Team
What's happening to the cinema?
The cinema will have to close for a short period while work happens around it but when it reopens, it’ll be better than ever before.
Tamara
Artistic Director
Can I still get the bus to you?
For the most part we think yes - we have no control over bus routes and timetables but we'll make sure any changes are flagged on our website.
Sam
Communications Team
When will this all start?
We're aiming to start in early 2021 straight after our pantomime. Of course we're still in the planning stages but as we learn more about the redevelopment we'll keep everyone informed!
Tamara
Artistic Director
Are any local companies working on the project?
Yes, we've local contractors and surveyors working on the project. We were thrilled to find out that one of our team worked on the building when it was built in 1976!
